UPDATE Missing Indiana Univ Student Lauren Spierer, Mom Says "Somebody's Responsible For Lauren's Disappearance And Knows Where She Is."

Volunteers gathered in Bloomington Sunday to spread the word about still-missing Indiana University student Lauren Spierer. It's an effort to keep this case in the forefront, the day before students head back to class. As new faces descend upon IU this semester, a now-very familiar one will greet them. "She's so much more than that girl on the poster. She's our daughter. We love her dearly. We're not going to walk away. We're going nowhere," said Lauren's mom, Charlene.


In fact, the search for Spierer is being refreshed and renewed in Bloomington. With new posters in hand, volunteers and students hit the pavement to make sure Lauren's picture can't be missed, that her message can't be ignored. "I mean this could happen to anyone," said IU sophomore Gabi Cohen. "I would want everyone to help if it was one of my close friends or family, so I think anything we can do to help is just great," added IU sophomore Maddie Kaufman.


"(Students) hear things. They know things. We're hoping that by getting the message out that Lauren's still missing, someone will come forward, give us a piece of information, something they heard. We desperately need it," said Lauren's dad, Robert Spierer.  "Somebody's responsible for Lauren's disappearance and somebody knows where she is. That's who we want to talk to," Charlene Spierer said.

Vanished: Last-Known Steps of Lauren Spierer Led Her Past Waffle House on 10th Street and N. College Ave, Waffle House Was Open at 4:30 am.


“The only place open at 4:30 am on Friday June 3rd, 2011 along the path that Lauren Spierer took up and then back down N. College Ave near her apartment at Smallwood Plaza was the Waffle House at 530 N. College Ave. The Waffle House is open 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, there are cars in the parking lot that faces N. College Ave at all times, it has been determined that two male registered sex offenders worked at this Waffle House.”

Let’s get real here, Lauren Spierer is very, very young looking, she is 20 years old with blond hair and blue eyes, but at 4′ 11″ tall and 90 lbs she looks like a 14 year old or even younger and fits the profile of a target for a sex offender who just might be working in the the neighborhood. 

Lauren Spierer was living at the SMALLWODD PLAZA APARTMENTS 455 N. COLLEGE AVE, Bloomington IN 47404, on the night of her disappearance there were two troubled sex offenders working just across the street at the Waffle House 530 N COLLEGE AVE and around the croner there was one more at Domino’s Pizza 527 N WALNUT ST which delivers to the SMALLWODD PLAZA APARTMENTS.

Sex offenders are never "cured", there is always a chance for a repeat offence.
