9/11 LINK TO SARASOTA FL: A new report revealing the hijackers met in Florida with a well-connected Saudi family, ESAM GHAZZAWI and ABDULAZIZ AL-HIJJI, who fled to Riyadh just days before the attacks raises fresh concerns about the Saudis' role in the plot.
The Saudi hijackers who entered the country from San Diego also met with Saudi handlers. So now we know al-Qaida had Saudi help from coast to coast. According to the Miami Herald, investigators believe the wealthy family at a minimum knew of their 9/11 HIJACKER guests' evil plans, and possibly aided them.
Just two weeks before 9/11, and after meetings and calls with ringleader Mohamed Atta and other hijackers, the Saudi nationals, ESAM GHAZZAWI and ABDULAZIZ AL-HIJJI, abandoned three cars, including a new Chrysler PT Cruiser, in the garage and driveway of their Sarasota home. In their haste to leave the country, they also left behind opulent furniture. A safe, however, was cleaned out. They also took a computer.
The Sarasota home at 4224 Escondito Cir, Sarasota, FL 34238, was owned by Esam Ghazzawi, a Saudi financier. He'd been on an FBI watch list for terror-fundraising. The FBI, however, never briefed the 9/11 Commission about his and the other Saudi occupants' connections to the hijackers. Congress also was left in the dark about the house search.
Bob Graham Wants 9/11 Inquiry Reopened; TAMPA (2011-9-9) - New information is surfacing that a Saudi family in Sarasota is linked to the masterminds of the 9/11 terror attack. Even though the FBI investigated the connection after the family fled, Congressional investigators were never notified. And that has former Sen. Bob Graham calling for a new investigation.
Former Florida Sen. Bob Graham headed Congress' 9/11 inquiry, and says he believes the Bush Administration purposely withheld the information from Congress. "It tends to reaffirm the fundamental theory that the 19 hijackers were not acting alone," says Graham. "That they could have only completed such a complicated assignment as planning, practicing and executing a very sophisticated plot if they had assistance from people who spoke the English language, who were familiar with the culture of the United States and to provide them with protection, anonymity and support."

The FBI investigated Anwar al-Awlaki from June 1999 through March 2000 for possible fundraising for Hamas, links to al-Qaeda, and a visit in early 2000 by a close associate of "the Blind Sheik" Omar Abdel Rahman (who was serving a life sentence for his role in the 1993 World Trade Center attack, and plotting to blow up NYC landmarks). The FBI's interest was also triggered because he had been contacted by an al-Qaeda operative who had bought a battery and a satellite phone for Osama bin-Laden, Ziyad Khaleel aka Ziyad Sadaqa.
Ziyad Khaleel, also known as Khalil Ziyad, Ziyad Sadaqa, and Ziyad Abdulrahman, was a Palestinian-American al-Qaeda member, based in the United States, primarily in Colorado, Florida, Michigan and Missouri. He had been identified as a "procurement agent" for Osama bin Laden, arranging the purchase and delivery of "computers, satellite telephones, and covert surveillance equipment" for the leadership of al-Qaeda, as well as administering a number of radical Islamic websites as webmaster, including the website of the terrorist group Hamas. Among the cities in which he resided at various times were Denver, Detroit, Columbia and Orlando.

The couple’s, ABDULAZIZ A. AL-HIJJI and ANOUD ESAM GHAZZAWI AL-HIJJI, sudden departure two weeks before 9/11 from Sarasota Fl was tracked in detail by the FBI after the attacks. First, they traveled to a Ghazzawi property in Arlington, Va., (see address below) then — with Esam Ghazzawi — via Dulles airport and London’s Heathrow, to Riyadh Saudi Arabia. Ghazzawi and al-Hiijjii had been on a watch list at the FBI and that a U.S. agency (ICE) involved in tracking terrorist funds was interested in both men even before 9/11.
